Many researchers of the paranormal believe most of us possess some level of extrasensory ability. Evidence? Countless people can point to moments in life when they’re certain telepathy (sharing thoughts without using the senses) or precognition (knowing ahead of time) occurred.
If such things happen only once or twice, that’s no big deal. But if they occur frequently—and with high accuracy (your prediction consistently matches reality)—then you might, in fact, be psychic.
Below are six signs that can offer convincing proof.
1) You know the phone will ring—and who’s calling
This is extremely common; almost all of us have experienced it at least once. Most people chalk it up
to coincidence, or say it’s because that person often calls at a certain time.
Psychic ability in action (Precognition): Have you ever sensed a call from someone you rarely hear from—or a person you haven’t had news of in years—right before the phone rang? If so, that’s a classic sign of precognition. Try this: keep a simple log of how often you “see” a call before it happens.

2) You sense a child or loved one is in trouble
We all worry about family, especially children or loved ones living far away. Schools and organizers provide safety assurances, and kids grow more capable of protecting themselves. Even so, some parents feel a persistent, specific foreboding that their child is hurt or in danger. The feeling won’t fade until they call or check in person.
Such a deep connection can appear between parents and children, spouses, or siblings. If you’ve had experiences like this, you may have genuine extrasensory sensitivity.
3) You feel familiar with a place you’ve never visited
You’re certain you’ve never entered that house, yet everything feels familiar. You know where each room is, how it looks, how furniture is arranged—even tiny details: whether the paint is dry, which lights flicker, or what object feels “out of place.”
One possibility is that you once spent time there but forgot. Another is déjà vu—a phenomenon about 60% of people experience a few times in life. However, as Marie D. Jones and Larry Flaxman note in The Déjà Vu Enigma, déjà vu is usually a fleeting impression, hard to describe beyond a gesture or a few words. It rarely produces the rich, detailed recall described above.

4) You have prophetic dreams
We all dream—often about familiar people or situations that preoccupy us. Sometimes we dream of someone we’ve only met once and never see again.
But have you ever dreamed about yourself, a loved one, a friend, or an event that then happened shortly afterward in waking life? Those are prophetic dreams, and not everyone has them.
Such dreams feel clear, intense, and detailed, often so compelling you could write them down in full.

5) You can sense information about an object (or person) through your senses alone
Have you ever picked up a stranger’s object and suddenly knew things about it—its owner, its history? Or shaken hands with a new acquaintance and instantly sensed where they’re from, what they do, and what they’re like?
You might simply be highly perceptive at “reading” people or objects. But if you can provide specific, accurate details that even close friends or relatives don’t know, this could indicate psychometry—a form of psychic sensing.

6) You tell friends what’s going to happen to them—and it happens
Do you habitually warn friends and family about risks or unusual situations, or tell them what they are likely to experience—and then it comes true?
Of course, knowing someone well lets us make educated guesses about their likely outcomes. The key difference here is the strong, unshakable feeling about what will happen—seemingly from nowhere, not from anything you consciously know.
That intuitive surge is what often separates ordinary inference from genuine psychic ability.
