In a remote Indian village, a farmer was stunned when his goat gave birth to a kid with only one eye in the middle of its forehead, giving it the appearance of a cyclops. News of the unusual animal quickly spread, prompting astonishment from onlookers.
Crowds of people flocked to see the rare phenomenon on Thursday morning in Sultampur, India. The baby goat was found to have two eyeballs under one eyelid, with the two eyes fused together in the middle of its forehead.
Goat owner Umesh Maratha has been raising goats for years, but this is the first time he has seen anything like the mutated goat. Its strange appearance left people in disbelief, and some compared the lamb to a human.
Aside from the obvious birth defect, the baby goat appears to be completely healthy. The animal is the second offspring to be produced by the goat, who previously delivered a completely healthy lamb.
In May 2019, a similar creature was born to the amazement of villagers in India. The ‘cyclops’ calf was hailed as a miracle from God by those who flocked to worship it. It appeared to have just one single eye in the middle of its head and no nose.
Despite villagers’ awe of the mutant calf, vets have rubbished claims of a miracle, stating that the abnormality is due to a genetic mutation that occurs naturally. However, some believe that the animal’s appearance is a divine message or a sign from God.
The goat owner said, “The people from the neighboring village have now flocked to our home and are asking us if they can worship it. We all think this is a miracle of God and we think this is Lord Brahma [creator god in Hinduism] who has taken birth in our home in the avatar of the cow.”
