At animal rescue centers, staff members are accustomed to urgent calls about distressed animals. While they always strive to prepare for rescues, some cases pose significant challenges. One such case involved Biggie, an elderly German Shepherd abandoned near the Los Angeles River.
Biggie had been trapped in the river for weeks. Though residents nearby provided him with food, they struggled to reach him due to the inaccessible location. Eventually, they sought assistance from Hope For Paws, a non-profit animal rescue organization.
Upon receiving the call, Hope For Paws dispatched a rescue team to the river. They were taken aback by the unique challenge and initially felt frustrated by the lack of preparedness.
Thankfully, with the help of neighbors, they gathered the necessary equipment for the river rescue. When rescuers reached Biggie, he welled up with tears as he felt their warm hands on his head, deeply touching everyone’s heart.
Initially apprehensive, Biggie soon warmed up to the kind volunteers at the center. He appeared immensely grateful for his rescue and embraced the love and care showered upon him by those around him.
