Reviving the Roar: The 1970 Chevrolet Nova 4-Speed

In the heart of Michigan’s Willow Run, a gem of American muscle history was born – the 1970 Chevrolet Nova coupe. This captivating classic, now in the possession of our dealership since March 2022, emerged from an extended hibernation, bringing with it a rich legacy of power and style.

The first thing that catches the eye is the striking burgundy coat that adorns the Nova’s body. It’s a fresh paint job that rejuvenated the car’s aesthetics, making it stand out on any road. Underneath that sleek exterior lies a powerhouse – a replacement 350ci V8 engine paired with a Muncie four-speed manual transmission, backed by a Positraction rear end.

But this Nova isn’t just about brute force; it’s a well-rounded package. Equipped with front disc brakes, exhaust headers, and SS-style 14″ wheels, it exudes performance from every angle. The Hurst shifter promises a thrilling driving experience, while a vintage cassette stereo adds a touch of nostalgia to the cabin. Slide into the comfortable front bucket seats, and you’ll immediately feel the blend of style and substance this car offers.

In 2022, we gave this Nova some well-deserved attention, including an engine-out reseal, a comprehensive fuel system cleaning, a thorough brake system overhaul, and brand-new tires all around. This beauty comes complete with a spare Delco AM radio and a clean Oregon title, making it ready for a new chapter in its storied history.

Originally dressed in Forest Green, this Nova’s exterior received its burgundy makeover approximately two decades ago, a testament to its enduring appeal. The side mirror, chrome bumpers, and SS-style badging and trim complete the vintage look. Any blemishes on the body and trim are meticulously documented in our gallery.

Those SS-style 14″ wheels, adorned with chrome trim rings, now sport 225/70 General tires, ensuring a confident grip on the road. The front disc brakes, serviced with replacement pads, rotors, and seals, enhance stopping power, keeping you in control.

Inside, black vinyl upholstery graces the seats and door panels, complemented by black carpeting and color-keyed trim. The focal point of the cabin is the floor-mounted Hurst shifter, a symbol of precision and speed. An aftermarket cassette stereo unit adds a touch of retro charm, while auxiliary gauges mounted at the base of the dash provide vital information. GM-branded safety belts ensure security for the front occupants.

Behind the three-spoke steering wheel, you’ll find a horizontal 120-mph speedometer, alongside a fuel gauge and ventilation controls. The five-digit odometer reads 23k miles, though the true mileage remains a mystery.

Under the hood, the replacement 350ci V8 engine proudly boasts an Edelbrock intake manifold and air cleaner housing, Chevrolet-branded valve covers, and coated headers connected to a dual exhaust system. The engine block’s suffix stamp, “BMA,” denotes a later 350ci V8, ensuring reliability and power. The fuel system received a meticulous cleaning and servicing, ensuring optimal performance.

Power flows through a Muncie four-speed manual transmission, directing it to a Positraction differential housed within a sturdy 12-bolt setup. Further mechanical details are displayed in our gallery, showcasing the Nova’s solid underbelly.

This 1970 Chevrolet Nova 4-Speed is a testament to American automotive craftsmanship and a slice of history. With its refreshed appearance and revitalized mechanics, it’s poised to take you on a journey through time and power. Don’t miss your chance to own this classic icon.
