Ace, a senior dog, was surrendered to the Sonoma shelter in his old age, just before the California wildfires broke out. He ended up at the SPCA 150 miles away.
The first thing foster mum Bonnie noticed about the wonderful boy was that he pranced around and acted like a dog!
Bonnie had to get the 19-year-old dog out of the shelter, and she promised to take him in until he could find a forever home.
She introduced him to her other foster dogs, with whom he ultimately became friends. He’d come out of his shell more and more as the days went.
When the time came for Ace to find a permanent home, the applications began to pour in. Bonnie was feeling down and contemplating how much she would miss him when he was gone.
As a result, Ace “failed” as a foster child and was permanently welcomed into Bonnie’s household! He couldn’t have ended up in a better environment for a dog who was abandoned near the end of his life.
